Box truck delivering mail in accident causing fuel leak

Following an extended incident this morning in the 2600 block of NY7, crews have returned to service. The incident resulted in RT 7 being reduced to a single lane of traffic.

In response to a single-vehicle accident involving a US Mail delivery truck, crews from Pittstown-Fire-Rescue, Raymertown Volunteer Fire Department, Pittstown Ambulance, NYS DEC Spill response, NYS DOT, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, Hurleys Garage, and Dawson’s Towing worked together. The driver of the truck escaped without injury. Crews spent approximately three hours on the scene, securing a large diesel fuel leak, assisting in the safe offloading of cargo, and controlling traffic. The efforts of all responding agencies are appreciated.
