Former Gallatin County Postmaster Due in Court Tuesday Arrested Early Monday Morning in Posey County on Similar Drug Charges

It’s been just under a year since WROY/WRUL News brought you a story on the arrest of a Gallatin County Postmaster charged with Possession of Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Kelli Hale was due in court Tuesday morning on those charges.  In the early morning hours Monday, Posey County authorities picked her up after a traffic stop in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.  Official say they pulled Hale’s vehicle over in the area of 9th Street and Main for failure to use a turn signal and having an obstructed license plate.

According to a press release from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Hale was found in possession of a pipe with burnt residue inside it.  A further search of the vehicle resulted in a purse under the driver’s seat containing 3 bags of a white, crystal-like substance which tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.  The total weight of the suspected drugs was more than 36 grams.  Officers say they also found Schedule IV pills in the cup holder of the vehicle and a box that previously contained a digital scale in the floorboard.  In addition to her Gallatin County charges, Hale is now facing three Level 3 felonies in Posey County, one each for Dealing in Methamphetamine, Possession of Meth, and Possession of Narcotic Drug.  In addition, she’s been charged with a Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of a Schedule IV Drug and a Class C Misdemeanor of Possession of Paraphernalia.
