Investigators looking for suspect accused of attacking NW Side postal worker

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Investigators with the U.S. Postal Service hope a reward of up to $150,000 will help them find a man who attacked a letter carrier on Chicago’s Northwest Side a few weeks ago.

U.S. Postal Inspector Spencer Block said the female letter carrier was assaulted by a man on July 29 in the 2600 block of Fullerton Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood.

“A USPS letter carrier was physically assaulted while delivering mail, while conducting their official duties as a letter carrier,” Block said. “Thankfully, they’re ok. Postal inspectors are investigating alongside Chicago Police.”

The postal service has released images of the man wanted in connection with the attack.

“This was not a robbery of a letter carrier,” Block noted. “We do have video of the incident, and this appears to be a random attack on a postal letter carrier.”

Block said people with information about the man should call postal inspectors at 877-876-2455.
