Retired Dothan mail carrier killed by her ex-husband

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It’s been a painful grieving process for Angee Stringfellow who got a call about her best friend Reinetta Lewis dead after being murdered by her ex-husband she recently divorced after less than three years of marriage.

“This hits close to home and what I mean by that you just never know how things are going to turn out because he was an ex-husband and he was selfish for taking her life and his,” Stringfellow said.

Lewis was found shot to death in the front yard of her home on East Bunche last Wednesday — where her ex-husband was also found dead after taking his own life after the murder.

Lewis had recently filed a protection order from her husband the day before the shooting claiming he was bipolar, threw tantrums, and was often destructive and when she had gotten home from the store on Wednesday, he surprised her with violence.

“He shot her in the neck and stomach and then he went to do what a coward did and commit suicide,” Stringfellow said.
