Wyoming Postal Rep Filing Grievance Over Mail Going To Colorado Instead Of Cheyenne

A Wyoming postal rep is filing a grievance because magazines, catalogs, and large envelopes that were supposed to be processed in Cheyenne are now going to Denver, adding at least a day to some Wyoming deliveries. “That is ridiculous,” he said.

Magazines, catalogs, and large envelopes that were once sorted in Cheyenne are now making a road trip to Denver before reaching Wyoming mailboxes, a postal union representative says.

The behind-the-scenes change is adding at least a day to their delivery.

The shift comes after the U.S. Postal Service announced in February 2025 that it would retain certain local mail processing operations in Cheyenne and Casper, rather than move all such processing out of state under a cost-cutting overhaul called Delivering for America.

Bob Jacknitsky, Wyoming’s state representative for postal workers union NPMHU Local 321, said Cheyenne previously processed those pieces — known as “flats” — for the entire state.

Now they’re being sent to Denver for sorting into individual carrier routes, before returning to Wyoming for delivery.

It’s good to see at least one union step up and call attention to the service delays ingrained into DFA. Renfroe wouldn’t dare call out his buddy Tulino, and the NALC is just a shell of what it was. Fortunately, the door is going to hit him in the butt on his way out and maybe new leadership will take a more aggressive tact and really fight for its members.
