Woman arrested in Burke Co. after reports of disposing of stolen U.S. mail onto roadway

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A woman has been arrested after reports of a suspicious female rummaging through mailboxes and being seen disposing U.S. mail onto the roadway.

According to authorities, Burke County Dispatch received a call on July 30th, from a resident in the Northlake Drive Subdivision reporting a suspicious female – later identified by investigators as Jessica Rae Mabli – rummaging through mailboxes in the neighborhood, and later told deputies that Mabli was heading towards Highway 25 North.

Authorities say that Mabli was apprehended without further incident after a brief chase, and they state that Mabli was accompanied by her minor child, who was seated in the front passenger seat, and after a search warrant, officers found a significant quantity of mail from Burke, Richmond, and Grovetown neighborhoods, along with numerous credit cards, driver’s licenses, social security cards, and checks.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office states that anyone who may have been affected by mail
theft in Burke, Columbia or Richmond Counties needs to report the incident to their local law
enforcement agency.
