WEST PARIS (WGME) — It’s been four years since the town of West Paris lost its post office, and despite promises from the U.S. Postal Service that a new facility would be built, residents are still waiting.
The original post office shut down in May 2021 after its lease was not renewed. The building now houses apartments, and the only USPS presence left in town is a single blue mail drop box.
Last summer, the Postal Service announced it had signed a lease to reopen the West Paris post office at a new location: the former Ledgeview Living Center on Route 26. But nearly a year later, there’s been little visible progress.
A sign on the building’s front door indicated construction would begin in March, but there’s been no activity.
