Wells Fargo offers framework for postal privatization

Some analysts at Wells Fargo have come out with a blueprint for privatizing the Postal Service. It explains how with privatization, postal parcel shipping rates would increase significantly, to the benefit of UPS and FedEx, and it suggests that the “financial burden” of breaking up the USPS could be offset by selling off the Postal Service’s vast real estate portfolio. The report is pure hooey, but it’s worth reading anyway, just to see what privatization advocates are thinking. Here’s the beginning of the report:

Wells Fargo: The US Postal Service is back in the headlines and with Trump 2.0’s emphasis on cost cuts, we believe Postal reform may become a focus. True privatization would be tricky but possible, and all paths lead to better parcel pricing.
