Weaverville man pleads guilty to carjacking, shooting mail carrier in 2023

A Weaverville man has pleaded guilty to federal charges for the shooting and carjacking of a mail carrier in Madison County in 2023.

An Asheville federal judge accepted Jaden Garay’s guilty plea this week

According to government records, on Sept. 5, 2023, Garay argued with his mother and step-father before stealing their loaded Glock 48 9 mm semiautomatic handgun and several additional loaded ammunition magazines.
