Pete Routsolias, the Postal Service’s chief logistics officer, recently accepted an Optimizers Award from Autofleet, a logistics management software developer.
USPS won in the “Best Route Optimization” category.
“By rebuilding its logistics network using advanced optimization and real-time operational data, the organization reduced transportation spend by $1.7 billion and cut unplanned trips by 40 percent, while supporting record freight volumes and maintaining service performance,” according to a post on Autofleet website.

I what world are they maintaining service performance? They lowered their own standards and still can’t make them. Congress has finally take notice, as their phones are constantly ringing with complaints. It does no good to supposedly smoothe the logistics network and the delay the mail, which they are doing nationwide as a matter of policy. Awards come and go, but apparently bonuses are forever.
