USPS truck drops several crates of mail on I-40; agency says all will be delivered by Tuesday

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — Mail was scattered across I-40 Monday morning, causing traffic backup.

It happened around 5:45 a.m. at Page Road near mile marker 282.

According to Durham Police Department, a mail truck had dropped several crates of mail on the interstate, and another vehicle hit one of them. There were no injuries reported.

USPS recovered the mail that fell out of the truck. The agency told Eyewitness News that it is being taken to a postal processing center to be reprocessed and delivered. There were no packages involved.

People should expect to get the mail involved in the incident by Tuesday, the Postal Service confirmed.
