USPS hits 3 billion holiday packages in ‘Christmas City’ Noel

NOEL, Mo. — A package with a special number arrived at the post office in Noel — or rather during this time of year — Noël.

On Monday (12/1), the U.S. Postal Service delivered its three-billionth holiday package to Landon’s Feed Store in downtown Noel.

On Black Friday (11/28), USPS began its annual count of holiday mail, tracking each piece of mail that goes through their system until Christmas Day.

Postal employees say Noel, which is also known as “Christmas City” this time of the year, is the perfect place to deliver a milestone package.

“It’s Noël, Missouri, this time of the year, and we’re celebrating throughout the country. So, we have these milestone deliveries throughout the country, and like I say, we just hit three billion mail pieces since Thanksgiving and we’re celebrating today in Noël, Missouri,” said USPS Strategic Communication Specialist, Mark Inglett.

In 2024, the U.S. Postal Service had over 10 billion holiday mail pieces. They expect to surpass that number this year.
