U.S. Postal Service closes three post offices due to South Fork and Salt wildfires near Ruidoso, New Mexico.

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – The United States Postal Service has closed three post offices due to the South Fork and Salt Fires near Ruidoso, New Mexico.

The following post offices are closed:

  • Alto Post Office (100 Sun Valley Rd. Alto, NM, 88312)
  • Hollywood Post Office (25959 U.S. Highway 70, Ruidoso, NM, 88345)
  • Ruidoso Post Office (1090 Mechem Dr. Ruidoso, NM, 88345)

FedEx packages that are shipped to Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Alto and Mescalero can be picked up at the FedEx location at 206 E College Blvd. Roswell, NM 88201. All packages will be held by FedEx and not returned to sender. For more information customers can call 1-800-463-3339.

UPS has placed an emergency condition status on all shipments to the area. Any shipments with emergency status will be held for seven to ten days from the date received at terminal. UPS will attempt to make deliveries when roads reopen, any delivery attempts that are unsuccessful will be returned to sender. For more information customers can call 1-800-742-5877.
