SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (WEHT) — The U.S. Postal Service celebrated a major holiday season milestone in Santa Claus.
4.6 billion pieces of mail and packages have been processed so far this holiday season, and the holiday season isn’t even over yet. Last year they processed over 11 billion pieces. Officials say it is likely they will meet or go over that number this year.
“It is a very busy time at the postal service, but we are happy to be here to serve our customers,” says US Postal Service Spokesperson Susan Wright.
The postal service says the deadline for first class mail is December 17. December 18 is the deadline for primary mail shipping.
For those who procrastinate, the deadline for primary mail express is December 20.
