U.S. House passes bill to rename local post office after Sojourner Truth

A local post office may soon be renamed for an iconic civil rights activist.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to rename the Battle Creek Post Office after abolitionist and civil rights leader Sojourner Truth.

Renaming the post office at90 McCamly Street South in Battle Creek is a decision supported by Truth’s descendants, as well as local organizations like Battle Creek Unlimited and Kellogg Community College.
