Three arrested after alleged armed robbery of postal worker

PEORIA, Ill. – An adult and two juveniles are in custody in connection with the alleged armed robbery of a postal service worker.

It happened around 1:30 Monday afternoon in the 300 block of N. Republic.

Spokesperson Simon Roth says as officers arrived a female victim told them she was approached by a man armed with a weapon who took her mail bag and some personal items.

The suspect then ran to a vehicle and drove away. The victim was not injured.

Roth says during the course of the investigation, officers located the vehicle connected with the incident in the 1100 block of E. Behrends Avenue. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen.

Officers later observed three people enter the vehicle and drove away.

Later the vehicle came to a stop in the 700 block of E. London. The three individuals walked away from the vehicle and then from officers as officers approached. They were apprehended after a brief foot chase.
