This American watch pays tribute to the 250th anniversary of the USPS

What happens when 250 years of American postal history meet modern watchmaking? Vaer answers with the C5 Postmaster USPS, a $399 field watch featuring Swiss quartz precision, military-inspired styling, and a distinctive patriotic design.

The U.S. Postal Service is making its mark on the world of watchmaking. American watch brand Vaer has partnered with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to create the C5 Postmaster, a commemorative watch celebrating two and a half centuries of American history.

Behind this collaboration lies a special relationship: since its founding in 2016, Vaer has relied on USPS to ship its products. Ten years later, the watchmaker is turning this logistical partnership into a watchmaking project, introducing a timepiece designed to appeal to both field watch enthusiasts and collectors with an appreciation for American heritage.

A 40 mm case designed for everyday wear

The Vaer C5 Postmaster retains the classic proportions of a field watch, a type of timepiece historically developed to meet the demands of military use. Its 316L stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of 48 mm. These dimensions give the watch a balanced presence on the wrist. Vaer recommends the model for individuals with wrist circumferences between 16.5 and 21.6 cm (6.5 to 8.5 inches).

The case and bezel feature brushed surfaces, while polished lugs provide a subtle contrast. A flat sapphire crystal with three layers of blue anti-reflective coating protects the dial against scratches.
