SUV driven by 81-year-old woman crashes into Mira Mesa post office

A vehicle crashed into the lobby of a local post office in San Diego’s Mira Mesa neighborhood on Monday, authorities said.

The San Diego Police Department said it received a call just before 10:15 a.m. about a vehicle that drove into the lobby of the post office located at 9051 Mira Mesa Blvd.

When officers arrived, they confirmed the vehicle involved was a white Toyota RAV4 driven by an 81-year-old woman.

Medics responded to the scene. Multiple people who were inside the post office at the time reported having minor injuries, while one person was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

The status of the driver is unknown at this time.

The post office has temporarily closed due to the incident. People needing to go to the post office were advised to go to the post office locations at 9245 Twin Trails Drive or 11251 Rancho Carmel Drive.
