St. Louis County postal employee assaulted over missing package

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man is accused of assaulting a postal employee in St. Louis County over a missing package.

The employee was inside an apartment lobby in the 1000 block of Old Olive Way on Monday afternoon when they were confronted about a missing package.

Charging documents state that when the postal employee tried to defuse the situation and walked away, Shaun Lewis put him in a chokehold from behind, strangled him and threw him to the ground. After the employee was on the ground, Lewis reportedly punched him in the head repeatedly.

A witness to the assault called 911.

The victim told officers he could not breathe and almost lost consciousness during the assault. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Lewis is charged with third-degree assault.

A lot of missing packages are caused by packages sent to the wrong Post Office and scanned by clerks out for delivery. The plant is terrible at sorting mail nowadays.
