Smoke brings postal workers inside early in northwest Ohio

Neither rain nor snow is supposed to stop mail delivery, but smoke has for workers in northwest Ohio.

The smoke from the Canadian wildfires has blanketed Toledo on Thursday, causing health experts to tell people to try to stay inside because of the air quality.

Some workers, like mail carriers, were still reporting to work, but later in the day were told to wrap things up because of the conditions.

Mail carrier Rachelle Roy said she has been delivering mail for decades, and this is the first time she can remember something like this happening. She said she was told around 4:30 p.m. to try to finish what she could by 5 p.m.
