Saginaw mail carrier celebrates 92nd birthday

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Warren Wedding has been delivering mail and serving the community for 65 years. The beloved Saginaw County mailman is celebrating his 92nd birthday today.

To this day Warren continues to serve the community and greet everyone with a friendly smile. Although, this year, Wedding’s birthday celebration looked a bit different.

Warren experienced a fall two weeks ago that left him in the hospital. He spent his big day at Mary Free Bed in Saginaw. Warren didn’t celebrate alone though as a surprise celebration was put on.

Since 1958, Warren says he’s watched the postal service change immensely, especially with the introduction of online shopping — now delivering more packages sometimes than mail. He says he misses the face-to-face time and conversations he used to have with neighbors when delivering their mail.

As for retirement, something Warren has been thinking about for years, he’s shared that he is considering taking a break when he gets home and enjoying time with family.
