Residents relieved as Mexico, ME post office reopens after storm damage

MEXICO (WGME) – The town of Mexico reopened its post office on Saturday.

The facility was closed for nearly a year after major damage from last winter’s storms.

It’s been almost a year since the Mexico Post Office was forced to close due to excessive flooding, but Saturday, their doors have reopened.

“It felt like I’m home again,” said Mexico resident Katy Madore.

In December of 2023, heavy rainfall and severe winter storms caused river levels to rise.

Those high water levels resulted in devastating flooding in the town of Mexico.

The post office was hit especially hard and was forced to close operations.
