Woman attempts to set post office on fire

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office seeks to identify and locate an unknown white female who walked into the post office in Highland Township on Dec. 26, ignited a piece of paper and placed it into a trash can causing extensive damage.
Oakland County sheriff’s deputies responded to the United States Post Office at 376 Beach Farm, Highland Township in Oakland County at 10:03 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 for a burglary alarm.
Upon arrival, deputies observed flames and smoke in the front lobby. The Highland Township Fire Department (HTFD) responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The lobby of the Post Office is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. There is extensive damage of well over $100,000. No injuries were reported.
