A new video shows the Postal Service’s next-generation delivery vehicle (NGDV) announcement.
The video, released Feb. 23, features an overview of the NGDV, along with remarks from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy; Kristin Seaver, chief retail and delivery officer; Scott Bombaugh, chief technology officer; and Mark Guilfoil, supply management vice president.
USPS has awarded its NGDV production contract to Oshkosh Defense.
Under the contract’s initial $482 million investment, the Oshkosh, WI-based company will finalize the production design of the NGDV, a right-hand-drive vehicle for mail and package delivery, and will assemble 50,000 to 165,000 of them over 10 years.
The first NGDVs are estimated to appear on carrier routes in 2023.
How about updating 45 year old mail processing equipment, in the ndc’s, to more effectively sort the parcels which will go into these high dollar delivery vehicles.
The existing vehicles are catching on fire, the machines can be replaced by a body easier than converting routes back to walkouts with pushcarts
Pretty crappy pix of the new LLV. Where’s the pix of the inside, cargo area? Forget watching the USPS video introducing the new vehicle…all admin blowhards getting their chance at the podium…then a 20sec pix of a CITY CARRIER in the new LLV? Why? We’ll never see it for 5+yrs!
