VINELAND – Police charged a city man with assault by auto after a collision that propelled a U.S. Postal Service truck into a rollover and injured the postal worker.
The driver, Edgar Santiago, 54, of the 500 block of East Laurel Street, was also issued seven summonses after the hit-and-run crash at Orchard and Elm roads just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
A red Ford F150, police said was driven by Santiago, was headed east through the intersection, ran a stop sign and struck the postal truck at a right angle, a witness told police.
As the postal truck rolled, the pickup truck driver didn’t stop, fleeing east on Elm Road.
