
Scott Goldade, 55, of Selby, who died Thursday in a one-vehicle rollover near Akaska, was postmaster in Bowdle, South Dakota.
Goldade was driving a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck north on 303rd Ave. about two miles north of Akaska about 8 p.m.,Thursday, April 18, when he lost control on the gravel road, according to Tony Mangan, spokesman for the Highway Patrol.
Akaska is 16 miles southwest of Selby, about eight miles from Lake Oahe.
Born in Aberdeen, Goldade was a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and was postmaster in Bowdle, South Dakota, active as a leader in the local union, according to his obituary. A post office employee said Goldade had worked at the post office in Sisseton before being named postmaster in Bowdle in February 2018. Bowdle is about 23 miles southeast of Selby.
His survivors include his wife, his three children and three step-children.
