Postmaster General Louis DeJoy recently visited the Gulf Coast
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy recently visited the Gulf Coast to thank employees for their work to improve service and to express his appreciation for their efforts to help customers recover from Hurricane Laura.
At the North Houston Processing and Distribution Center, DeJoy discussed the Postal Service’s success at reducing late trips and delayed inventory — two areas where the plant has been a national leader.
“That’s why I came to Houston — to say thank you,” DeJoy said. “Thank you for your dedication to the mission of the Postal Service. Thank you for working hard to run trucks on time and reduce extra trips. Thank you for working hard to quickly improve service across the board.”
The Postmaster General also visited Lake Charles, LA, one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Laura.
At the Lake Charles Post Office, DeJoy thanked employees for continuing to serve customers, even though many employees are dealing with the aftermath of the storm in their own lives.
“Even with all you’re going through personally, you are still here – you’re still coming to work. You’re what makes the Postal Service great,” DeJoy said.
He stressed the critical role each employee plays in their community, especially during natural disasters.
“I am so proud of you, and grateful to you for what you’re doing,” DeJoy said.
