ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The American Postal Workers Union has some strong words for the United States Postal Service.
In a release, APWU states USPS facilities have received minimal support regarding the poor conditions of their facilities in Albuquerque.
The union references two fines to USPS made by the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regarding multiple bats at their Main Office and dangerous roof leaks at Five Points Station.
APWU says these problems are ongoing and that little has been done to alleviate the major issues within the facilities.
Dan A Huerta, the Director of Education and Organization of APWU says staffing cuts have left postal facilities without custodians with some having to maintain multiple facilities.
“This minimal level of cleanliness will definitely continue to attract rats and other rodents. That is a given,” stated Huerta in the release.
The union is now asking the legislature for help to secure funds for repairs.
