Neighbors in Collier Township, Allegheny County, placed blue ribbons on their mailboxes in honor of the mail carrier, Louis Vignone, who was shot and killed last week.
Vignone was shot while working his shift as a mail carrier along Suburban Avenue on Thursday morning, authorities said.
“We just wanted to do something. I think whenever something happens, there’s always, ‘What can I do?’ We wanted a visible sign that we are united and we loved Lou. What happened was horrible, but we are still the same community before this happened. We will still support each other and everyone through this,” said the organizer, Lea Chidlow.
Vignone will be laid to rest later this week and visitation will be held on Thursday at the Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood.
