Goodyear AZ – According to the Goodyear Police Department, a man attempted to rob the Goodyear Post Office, chased and threatened customers and smashed a window there Sept. 10.
Police responded to the Goodyear Post Office at 875 S. Estrella Parkway after a call that “a male suspect (had) entered the post office, rock in hand and demanded money from the employees behind the counter,” said Lisa Berry, a Goodyear Police spokeswoman.
“The suspect reportedly jumped over the counter and took an employee’s phone and broke it. It was also reported that he began chasing customers and staff and making threats of harm with the rock in his hand.”
After leaving the post office, he allegedly threw a rock through a window—and then threw a rock at a parked car.
Officers arrested Trevon Cotton, 27, and charged him with attempted robbery, aggravated assault, criminal damage, theft and making threats.
The post office closed for approximately 45 minutes for cleanup before reopening, Berry said.
