Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2021)—Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, and Rep. Brenda Lawrence issued the following statements after President Biden announced that he would nominate Dan Tangherlini to replace Chairman Ron Bloom on the Postal Service Board of Governors:
“I strongly support President Biden’s choice of Daniel Tangherlini to fill a vacancy on the Postal Service Board of Governors.,” said Chairwoman Maloney. “His years of public service and management experience in various federal agencies, including as Administrator of the General Services Administration, makes him well-suited to help get the Postal Service back on track. Under Postmaster General DeJoy, the Postal Service lost focus on its core mission—to serve the American people by delivering the mail on-time at an affordable rate. It is my hope that Mr. Tangherlini, along with the rest of the Board of Governors, will begin to hold the Postmaster General accountable for the damage that has been done to the Postal Service’s operations and credibility. I thank Chairman Bloom for his long record of service to the American people and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
