Mail carrier struck in face during random attack in Brooklyn

NEW YORK— Police are searching for a man who they say attacked a mail carrier as she was working in Brooklyn two weeks ago.

The incident happened on Monday, Dec. 7 at around 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Pitkin and Pennsylvania avenues in East New York.

Police say the 52-year-old female victim was at the corner taking mail out of the mailbox when an unidentified man approached her.

It’s unknown if the two spoke before the man allegedly struck her in the face with an unknown object and fled on foot.

Police say the mail carrier received medical attention at the scene.

Her injuries were not made public.

The alleged attacker is described as a dark-skinned male in his mid 20’s, with a medium build, black hair, last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and black gloves.
