A Madison County man suspected of killing a postal worker in Banks County on Saturday reportedly was shot and wounded after he opened fire on deputies later that day.
According to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Asa (Junior) Wood of Commerce was delivering mail in Homer at about 9:30 a.m. when he was fatally shot.
During the course of the investigation, leads were developed that established 49-year-old Larry Steven Grogan as a possible suspect, and when deputies later spotted Grogan’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, Grogan fled until his vehicle was disabled by a deputy who performed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to crash.
