The work of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union to gain congressional support of H.R. 2382, the USPS Fairness Act, has resulted in a scheduled House floor vote the week of February 3. Our dedicated actions resulted in over 300 members of the House cosponsoring the bill, showing their support. As our members are aware, H.R. 2382 would repeal the onerous mandate for the Postal Service to prefund its retiree healthcare benefits. This mandate, which no other federal agency or private company is forced to do, is responsible for 100% of USPS’s financial losses since 2013. By repealing it, Congress will be setting USPS on firmer financial footing.
