
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – For the first time in 20 years, a post office in New Mexico could soon be renamed.
Congresswoman Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) introduced a bill to rename it after an Albuquerque letter carrier who was murdered on the job in 2019.
“The death of Jose Hernandez was so devastating. It was devastating news for our entire community,” said Haaland.
The 47-year-old letter carrier was shot and killed in April last year. Xavier Zamora, 17, is accused of shooting and killing Hernandez near this mailbox in southwest Albuquerque
