
HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) – Rewards of up to $6,000 are available after police released surveillance video of a woman setting fire to a U.S. Post Office in northern Oakland County.
The fire was discovered just after 10 p.m. Sunday, when the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at the post office located at 376 Beach Farm in Highland Township.
Deputies found smoke and flames inside the lobby when they arrived and called the Highland Township Fire Department for assistance. The post office lobby is open 24 hours per day.
The fire caused well over $100,000 worth of damage to the post office.
Surveillance video from the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office shows an unknown woman walk into the post office, light a piece of paper on fire and drop it into a trash can.
