Postal workers union demands answers after employee deaths at Fulton County facility

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — U.S. Postal Service workers are raising the alarm after a string of deaths at a postal service facility in Fulton County.

The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) says four workers have died at the Atlanta Regional Processing Distribution Center in Palmetto, which opened in 2024.

The union held a news conference outside their USPS Atlanta facility on Thursday morning to call attention to worker safety and demand answers on how to prevent employee deaths going forward.

The union said some employees are not adequately trained on how to respond during emergencies. Representatives also claimed workers inside the facility cannot call 911 directly.
