Postal Worker Stabbed At Carmel Post Office, Suspect Tased, In Custody

A US Postal Service employee was stabbed multiple times during an assault at a Putnam County post office, and the suspect is now in custody, police said.

The incident happened at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at the Post Office at 29 Fair St. in the hamlet of Carmel, according to the Carmel Police Department.

Putnam County 911 received a report of a disturbance at the post office, with dispatchers later telling responding officers that an assault had occurred and the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds.

According to police, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived within moments, deployed a Taser-like device, and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
