Poplarville postal workers recognized as operations continue without building

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) – Postal workers in Poplarville who have braved extreme working conditions for almost three years were recognized by the community on Tuesday.

“For our community, it’s been something that has really pulled on our hearts to see them working in these situations,” Poplarville Chamber of Commerce Vice President Brooke Wiltshire said.

Since the historic post office building was condemned in January 2022, workers have operated without a real roof over their heads — rain or shine, through hot summers and cold winters — to keep the mail flowing in Mississippi’s Blueberry Capital.

To show how much the community appreciates their hard work, the local postal service was recognized by the Poplarville Chamber of Commerce.
