OSHA investigating heat safety complaint at Grand Island Post Office

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Federal investigators are looking into a heat safety complaint involving the Grand Island Post Office.

In an email statement, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said it opened the investigation Tuesday in connection with a complaint related to heat safety. The statement provided no more information, but a union spokesperson said the complaint was filed by a postal worker. The spokesperson also said there have been three heat-related injuries involving the post office this summer.

OSHA said it would have six months to find any violations of safety and health regulations and then decide what, if any, citations or penalties would be handed down.
