The White House’s new anti-fraud task force and OPM have announced more than $500 million in reported savings, recoveries and estimated prevented losses for calendar year 2025 across FEHB and PSHB programs, based on collaboration with “special investigation units” of carrier organizations that administer the health plans.
The announcement comes less than two months before this year’s open season for FEHB and PSHB plans. And it comes amid a broader cost-control push on federal health benefits that includes increased scrutiny of ineligible family members, as well as a plan to access individual’s claims-level health data to proactively monitor for fraud to prevent it rather than try to recover funds after the fact.
