OIG Audits Find Over 2.5M Delayed Mailpieces in the St. Louis, MO, Area

During the week of June 2, 2025, we performed a self-initiated audit at the St. Louis Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) and Network Distribution Center (NDC) and seven delivery units serviced by the two plants. The delivery units included the Ballwin, O’Fallon, and St. Charles Main Post Offices, Maryville Gardens and Southwest Stations, and the Clayton and Creve Coeur Branches in the St. Louis, MO area.

We issued individual reports for the seven delivery units, P&DC, and NDC. We will also issue another report summarizing the results of our audits at all seven delivery units with specific recommendations for management to address.

The audit team identified deficiencies in all five areas we reviewed affecting mail delivery and property conditions.

We identified deficiencies in all of the areas we reviewed that affected the efficiency of operations at the St. Louis P&DC and NDC. We also identified other issues related to the security of registry items at the P&DC and safety and security at the NDC.

This audit demonstrates how the USPS as a whole prioritizes work hours over service. It’s there for all to see and really represents what is going on all over the country. Granted, it may not be on this large a scale but it’s common practice to let the mail sit. In this particular case, the district manager and the POOM’S below him or her should be terminated at once. Of course they won’t, and the USPS paid liar, known as the spokesperson, will release some postalspeak crap about prioritizing service. Meanwhile, some poor city carrier will be raked over the coals for asking for 30 minutes overtime. The new PMG talks about prioritizing service, fire these people and set a precedent then. The NALC, who are in bed with management, will of course say nothing about this and look the other way.
