HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Shrinking resources, rising demand and a shortage of workers are straining local post offices, leaving mail carriers to pick up the slack.
The issue is playing out at post offices across the region, including in Harvest, Owens Cross Roads, Athens and parts of Huntsville.
From intense heat to heavy packages and a steady overload of mail, postal workers told FOX54 that long days that have become part of the job, which they say has turned into an “impossible situation.”
Wait…the USPS said the Harvest issue was a “temporary logistical adjustment”. Some people can say, with accurate knowledge, that it is not temporary.

This entire mess is because rural carriers only Do their routes
then go home.
City Carriers have to pick up the slack. Do 2 routes a day
while rurals sit home getting paid for not working.
Make all carriers City carriers the problem is solved.
