New study on post office closures and population data

At this time of year, Americans make the most out of their access to local post offices, sending and receiving Christmas cards and presents from across the country. However, a new study has found that just 67% of all USPS post offices remain open.

The study, by Use Postal, a virtual mailbox and compliance service, reviewed USPS Post Master Finder data to identify the states and local areas that have lost the most post offices, and, when compared with local population data, the busiest post offices in the U.S. by population.

The study has revealed the areas of the country where the public is most and least served by their local post office, and which have suffered the most closures.
