Manatee Lagoon’s Mia gives her ‘Stamp of Approval’ for the United States Postal Service’s new manatee postage stamp 

Join us at Manatee Lagoon as the United States Postal Service launches its newest postage stamp on Manatee Appreciation Day.

 

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center is thrilled to collaborate with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to celebrate the release of its new “Save Manatees” stamp. Scheduled for March 27, the launch coincides with Manatee Appreciation Day, a day set aside to raise awareness for the need to protect our beloved marine mammals. 

 

“We hope this stamp inspires the community to take action to protect our Florida manatees,” Zack Greenberg, manager of Manatee Lagoon said. “Our mission is to raise awareness of the need for conservation efforts and showcase how sustainability efforts are crucial for our future generations.”

 

During the launch party, guests will be asked to write a letter to a friend or loved one on a manatee postcard that will be provided. Additionally, USPS manatee stamps will be available for purchase at the Manatee Lagoon giftshop while supplies last. 

 

“Mia’s Map” will also be on display for guests to mark, using an envelope sticker, the end location of their postcard to help visualize the stamps spreading awareness of manatees across the nation.

    • Mia, our Manatee Mascot, will be available for photo opportunities

The center is open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for major holidays, through manatee season, which runs Nov. 15 through on March 31, 2024. Manatee Lagoon is open the rest of the year Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
