Man accused of killing USPS worker in Wilkes County appears in court

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The man who is accused of shooting and killing a USPS worker and mother of two in Wilkes County appeared in court on Monday morning.

William Craig Durham, 56, of Wilkes County, is being charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in connection with the death of United States Postal Service letter carrier Brandi Reynolds.

Durham appeared in court in person on Monday morning and was denied bond.

A family member of Reynolds told the judge that Durham had allegedly been threatening Reynolds and had broken into her home in the past.

The family asked that he be held without bond out of concern for Reynolds’ two children.

The prosecution told the judge that Durham had confessed in the case. During the hearing, Durham appeared in person and faced the judge.

The prosecution also detailed Durham’s extensive prior record, including an assault conviction, several past kidnapping charges, intimidating a witness charges and possession of a firearm by a felon.
