Mail thefts, robberies, fraud and other postal crimes – 07/23/26

The Postal Service and U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) have been warning the public about romance scams a.k.a. “catfishing” — a rising form of online fraud that can lead to tremendous financial and emotional losses. Malicious actors, whether here or abroad, prey on vulnerable, often lonely individuals, baiting them with promises of love and companionship. Except that’s not exactly how this investigation began.

Tampa, Florida – Alexandria Bullock (46, Wimauma) has pleaded guilty to theft by a postal employee. Bullock faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.
