Mail-in ballot tracker on way to Tazewell County for November election

PEORIA (25News Now) – Tazewell County will use a mail-in ballot service provider in November that allows you to track your vote all the way in.

This week, the county board gave unanimous approval to a contract with KNOWiNK to print and mail the ballot to you.

KNOWiNK then tracks the progress through the postal service, even if it takes a while.

And that’s part of the problem, what the clerk calls “shortcomings” with USPS.

Tazewell County Clerk John Ackerman feels delays in the postal service will only get worse as local facilities are closed and our mail is re-routed to other cities, like St. Louis.

However, the ballots for this General Election in just over four months will have a tracking system that the clerk feels will be easy to use, once you make your voting selections and get ready to mail it back to Pekin.

”So, the voter will remove that receipt, retain that and that will include the QR code and the tracking website for this individual’s ballot, to be able to track it as it progresses through the postal service to this office, ” Ackerman said.

He adds that KNOWiNK can also print each ballot for $1 less than the county itself.
