The Supreme Court on Monday declined to allow the U.S. Postal Service to carry out parts of a new rule on mail-in voting. In a brief, unsigned order, the justices left in place a ruling by a federal judge in Boston that bars the USPS from implementing aspects of the rule.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court denied the administration’s request to stay two federal injunctions blocking the Postal Service’s mail ballot rule, leaving those injunctions in place and ensuring the rule will not take effect before the 2026 midterm elections. That is good news for the tens of millions of Americans who vote by mail: for this election, ballots will continue to be handled exactly as they always have been, under state administration, without Postal Service interference. It is good news that came only because three separate federal courts, the Supreme Court included, stepped in to stop the Postal Service from doing something it should never have attempted in the first place.
I would encourage all of those who care about the USPS to Google how to contact the BOG and the PRC and make your opinions known. I personally am very hard on the current regime for reasons that are clear. But if you support Steiner and company, then by all means let them know. The BOG especially, is an insular group that is responsible for the current state of affairs to a large extent. If we don’t begin to voice our opinions, then they’ll never know. They certainly don’t seem to concerned about it currently.
Too concerned, that is.
