CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A United States Postal Service mail carrier is recovering at home after being involved in a crash last week.
Andre Bernard, 35, was hospitalized after the crash on Tuesday.
“They came straight into me, so I just braced myself for impact, held my seatbelt ― boom ― that was it,” he said. “I woke up on the ground.”
Bernard says he is very sore, walks with a limp and is covered with road rashes, deep cuts and needed stitches on his right arm.
He told Local 10’s Sanela Sabovic he was trying to make a U-turn when another driver hit him.
The crash happened in the area of Southwest 16th Street and Fourth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
The impact ejected Bernard from his postal truck.
